Why Shred?

How much does File Thirteen's service cost?

For a one-time purge service, the two main factors that will determine your cost are the amount of paper you need shredded and how quickly you need service. If you are interested in scheduled service the three factors that determine your cost are the service method (on-site or off-site), the number of collection bins at your facility, and the service interval (monthly, weekly, etc.).

What is on-site shredding?

On-site shredding is a premium service, which provides you the highest level of security for your document shredding program. With this method, File Thirteen sends a specialized mobile paper shredding truck to your location to perform the shredding. You can visually verify the entire shredding process and have the piece of mind knowing all your paper is completely destroyed when we pull away from your parking lot.

What is off-site shredding?

Off-site shredding is a more economical alternative. With this method, File Thirteen will send a locked box truck to collect your paper. We then transfer the paper to our secured facility where it is shredded. After the shredding is complete, we send you a certificate of destruction.

Which method is better?

That depends on what is most important to your organization. If you are most interested in the highest level of security, then on-site shredding is your best option. If cost is the most important decision factor, then off-site would be preferable. Regardless of the method you choose, you can rest assured that File Thirteen will use the best security processes in the industry to collect, shred, and recycle your confidential information.

What type of shredding process does File Thirteen use?

File Thirteen uses a Hammermill and Pierce-and-Tear shredding system. This system tears the paper at the fiber instead of cutting it, which results in a random and more secure shred size than standard shredders.

How do I know my paper is shredded properly?

All of File Thirteen 's mobile destruction trucks have a viewing area weather it be a window or a video system so you can watch our secure shredding process from start to finish. For both on-site and off-site shredding, we will provide you with a certificate of destruction for every service.

Do I have to remove staples, paperclips, or binder clips?

No, you do not have to remove staples, paperclips, or binder clips from your paper before shredding. We can also shred the metal tabs on file folders.

What should I shred?

We encourage you to shred any paper leaving your facility. It is the most certain way to protect your organization from the exposure of identity theft and corporate espionage. It also drastically improves your ability to comply with the numerous laws and regulations covering information security. Why Shred?

To Comply WithThe Law

Throwing away confidential information without first destroying it is illegal. The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act financial), HIPAA (medical), and FACTA (consumer) mandate proper destruction of discarded information

To protect your business

Sensitive business information is discarded everyday, and the threat to your business is all too real. Private information, in the wrong hands can cost your business its reputation, let alone substantial financial loss. Confidential printed materials, from employee medical records to strategic planning documents can become huge liabilities should their contents be compromised. Even legislation is demanding that businesses find appropriate means of destroying unwanted data. Compliance with these privacy policies isn’t just good business practice: it is now the law. Your business cannot leave these materials to chance.

To protect your customer

Customers are now more aware than ever of the possibility of identity theft. With File Thirteen’s secure document destruction program, you can help to ensure that none of your customer’s information is ever compromised. When confidential customer information ends up in a dumpster, a business exposes itself to the dual risk of criminal exploitation and civil prosecution as well as the loss of credibility in the eyes of valuable clients.
